The mysterious Shiki is back for Samurai Shodown

SNK has released another character trailer (courtesy of Game Goons) for the upcoming Samurai Shodown. This week, it is the return of one of my personal favourites: the sultry and mysterious Shiki.

Making her debut in Samurai Shodown 64 back in 1997, Shiki was born into the servitude of the evil Yuga, and assigned with finding her master a new body to inhabit. However, thanks to the victory over Yuga by series protagonist Haohmaru, Shiki’s soul was freed, allowing her to become her own woman in the following years.

Wielding twin swords with deadly proficiency, Shiki attacks in mostly spinning and circular motions, turning herself into a whirling dervish of death. Shiki’s flirtatious and almost apathetic attitude toward the fight lures in her opponents, before cutting them down with relative ease. Good to see you back again, sister.

Samurai Shodown launches in Japan on June 27 for PS4 and Xbox One. PC and Nintendo Switch ports will follow this Winter. An arcade release is also in the works.
