The king of kings in the roguelike sphere, Vampire Survivors, is getting a new update, bringing in a host of content and improvements. The greatest thing about this upcoming patch is online co-op, allowing you and your friends to duke it out together, rather than as names on a leaderboard.
One of the most revolutionary games, and a giant among indies, is finally going online, allowing players to go on runs together, side-by-side. This and more is on the way in Patch 1.14, which the devs have announced is arriving sometime this Fall, though when exactly remains to be clarified. It was announced that more news about the update will be available next week.
The online co-op mode will support up to four players, from what we could see in the trailer, with each player taking control of a single character. You then do your due diligence just like you would in solo, trying your best to survive the onslaught of enemies and swarms. It’s an incredible addition, and one that should’ve been there from the start (yes, I’m salty I can’t blame my friends for losing me the run).
Patch 1.14 also appears to include five major improvements and additions to the game, with one revealed each week. That’d place the update’s release somewhere in November, and I honestly can’t wait.
Vampire Survivors was a game I purchased on a whim back when it first launched, and I was completely enamored with its downright revolutionary gameplay. It took casual play and placed it in a hardcore setting, and the results have been glorious.
Numerous games have since copied the formula, spawning an entirely new genre, Survivors-likes, so that speaks of how amazing it actually is.
