Ubisoft’s upcoming free-to-play title The Mighty Quest For Epic Loot, which is currently in closed beta, has made its way onto Steam — those wishing to join the beta via Steam, hold your horses; you may not like what’s coming next.

On the game’s website, there are currently two ways to gain access to the beta: either register and hope you receive an invitation or purchase a pack from the ‘Original Opulencian’ program which gives you instant access to the beta along with in-game items.

However on Steam there is no option to register. The only way to gain access to Mighty Quest‘s beta is by purchasing one of the four Original Opulencian packs; these range from $19.99 to a whopping $99.99.

I remember being excited about what Ubisoft were doing with this game several months ago, but now I really don’t like where any of this is going. How on earth do they plan on keeping this game balanced when you can buy a pack containing all of this?
