The Destructophone (as well as most of the Internets) has been horribly dry this weekend. Not much has happened, but at least we can go out on a high note thanks to Dtoider Matt T. Matt loves reading the site and of course loves robots. So it was a real simple decision for his Halloween costume this year:
Hey Destructoid!I really enjoy reading your site and love robots. So, my Halloween costume this year was a no-brainer. However, I went with a design inspired by your very own automaton! Obviously, it’s not as crafty or clean looking as yours, but it gets the job done. I used two vehicle tail light covers for the eyes which give a very cool glow effect in photos. I added an antenna, and used round electrical junction boxes for the ears. The housing was made out of metal flashing used for roofing, so it’s pretty thin and a little too flimsy. I should have used thicker material. Also, I attached a baseball cap on the interior for comfort and too keep it secure. But, I think I am going to upgrade it to a bike helmet to make it more snug.
Keep up the good work. Here’s to the robot apocalypse!Matt T.
Awesome job Matt. Now to complete the costume, you just need a eye-catching suit, an entourage of awesome people and a never ending supply of Coronas.
Halloween is still a few days off and if you too want to be have a Mr. Destructoid costume, then check out Sausage Fingers Gregor’s step-by-step guide on how to make your own Mr. Destructoid helmet.
[P.S. Check out Matt’s artwork on his site too if you got the chance. Doesn’t have anything to do with videogames, but it is neat nonetheless.]
