The holiday 2011 Steam sale is on

Can you feel it in the air? Steam is back with its grand holiday sale. Through January 1, a new set of deals will be rotated in on a daily basis alongside discounts on static publisher catalogs.

This year, completing daily objectives rewards you with a lump of coal or a gift. Gifts can either be full games, or coupons, such as 33% off anything in the store. Pieces of coal can be crafted into a gift (seriously), or saved as entries into the end-of-sale giveaway.

Where this gets really interesting is that gifts and coal can be traded. I know many of today’s sales have been done multiple times already, so I’ll just give Orcs Must Die! ($3.74) my tip of the hat.
