With more and more Nintendo Switch games supporting vertical display functionality, it’s high time someone came out with a Switch accessory built specifically with tate mode in mind. Jeremy Parish, Mike Choi, and the folks at Fangamer have taken a crack at the concept. Enter the Flip Grip.

The design work is all done, vendors are lined up, and logistics are handled. The team just needs to raise funding for manufacturing. On Kickstarter, backers can pledge $12 for a Flip Grip with an estimated ship date of November 2018. The campaign’s funding goal is set at a modest $42,500.

As for supported games, it’s mostly arcade classics and shmups found on the Switch eShop like Donkey Kong, Punch-Out!!, Galaga, Pac-Man, Dig-Dug, Gunbird, and Ikaruga. The list is still growing.

“We’re not out to make a huge profit from this campaign — we simply want to make Flip Grip a reality and get it into as many people’s hands as possible,” the team wrote. “There’s never been a console better suited to putting perfect arcade recreations in your hands, and we want to play a part in bringing those experiences to you.”
