Akiba’s Beat, the successor to Akiba’s Trip: Undead and Undressed, which was actually the second game (the first never left Japan) has been delayed for North America to “Q1 2017.”

The Japanese version has been set to release in December, following a delay from the originally planned fall release to “winter 2016.” The disparity in release date suggests the delay may be due to localization. Despite being a lower-budget, lesser-known title about stripping people down to their underwear, Akiba’s Trip was an enjoyable experience with an accurate recreation of the real Akihabara.

A lot of games have been delayed recently. Off the top of my head: Final Fantasy XV, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, South Park: The Fractured but Whole, The Last Guardian, and Gran Turismo Sport. Moving to Q1, 2017 will be tough sledding for a game that needs to attract more fans. Here’s a list of games now slated for that period: Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8, Resident Evil 7, Yakuza 0, Nioh, For Honor, Persona 5, Sniper Elite 4, Halo Wars 2, Nier: Automata, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Ghost Recon Wildlands among others.

Can we delay Christmas to Q1 2017?
