The Daily Hotness: Nintendo is back … with a vengeance

Yesterday morning, Nintendo president and CEO Satoru Iwata gave a keynote at the Game Developers’ Conference in San Francisco. It turned out to feature a few tidbits that hardcore gamers — many of whom had long assumed that Nintendo had forsaken them for children and grandmas — could get excited about. These included a real storage solution for the Wii that doesn’t involve hard drives, as well as a new Zelda game. Was that enough to draw you back in, folks?

In addition, the “Gears 2-level” reveal that Geoff Keighley had been tweeting about all week turned out to be the announcement of Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2, which was accompanied by a slick, inventive teaser trailer. The unveiling was notable for the lack of any mention of the phrase “Call of Duty,” which neither I nor Alex Navarro understand. Thoughts? (Also, Modern Warfare 2 happens to come out on the day before my [REAL] birthday. *hint, hint*)

There was plenty of other stuff on Destructoid on 03/25/09, too: FileFront was shut down; Bethesda’s Fallout 3 DLC, ‘The Pitt,’ was brought back online; and apparently, there’s a new Final Fantasy game on the way to WiiWare. Check it all out below.
