The Bank Heist is your Thief pre-order DLC

Garett will take on the impregnable Stonemarket bank in this pre-order bonus

The thing that surprised me about the trailer above is not that there’s going to be pre-order DLC for Eidos Montreal’s upcoming Thief title but that the game is set for a February 25, 2014 release. I thought I had being paying close attention to any news about the game but that slipped me by. The Bank Heist is a standalone mission where players must guide master thief Garett through the heavily guarded Stonemarket First Bank to all the loot contained within its vaults.

What interests me most is a small line in the trailer saying “track your time & beat your friends,” suggesting a leaderboard-based element. I’ve rarely seen that in a stealth-focused game before and I think it will affect my play style. I’m much more of a “stay in the shadows and observe” player instead of just rushing in and adapting to what I see. I’m really looking forward to seeing how a modern Thief game will play, especially after really enjoying the stealth side of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Eidos Montreal’s previous title.
