The Art of Teenage Pokemon: Season 1

A lot of drawing went into this thing

Making Teenage Pokemon Season 1 took many hours of work. For me, those hours were mostly spent on putting together the story, the voices (except for cameo characters like Misty and Ditto), digging up music, trying to get the audio levels right, and the occasional bit of visual artwork that no one else had time to do (usually backgrounds, because not one likes making those). I’m happy to say my art looks like crap next to the work of the real artists on the show. I’m infinitely lucky to have roped this many talented people into teaming up with me.

In fact, the show wouldn’t have ever come to be if it weren’t for the designs of the Lindsay Collins. She drew up the first few characters (Marshtomp, Metapod and Charmeleon) long before I recorded any voices for Teenage Pokemon or figured out what it would be about. If she hadn’t drawn those three, I wouldn’t have never taken the hundreds of risks that followed in order to make the show a reality. My primary motivation at the start was to use the show as a vessel to transport Linday’s artwork to as many people as possible.

The whole show is fan-art, but it’s also fan-art that was made to promote the fan-art of others.

As the show went forward, more artists joined the ranks, and we now have a huge library of visual works to display, some of which didn’t quite make it to this post, but may be popping up in some other form in the future. We’ve got everything from fake box art (Like Bidoofshock Infinite and Borderlanderous 2), to previously censored crotch areas, to Retro City Rampage Pokemon mods, to Game developer Pokemon mods, to potential t-shirts designs, and a lot more.

Come to think of it, would you buy a t-shirt featuring Doofer Dewitt, Elizabuffet, and The Handurrman from Bidoofshock Infinite? How about some of these other designs? Let us know and we we’ll try to make all the stuff happen (including a second season of the show). Thanks again for checking out the stuff that we did.
