Remember that PS3/PC MMO The Agency that Sony Online Entertainment’s been working on since man first learned to walk upright? It’s been quietly in development for so long that the inevitable cancellation rumors have started to surface, rumors that SOE itself has declared “ridiculous,” promising that The Agency will appear sometime next year … maybe.
“I’ve been wrong like three times with that game,” said SOE president John Smedley while talking about the game a release date. “And we’re not going to release it until it’s right. But there’s this rumor going around that we’re going to cancel it — that’s ridiculous.
“We’re going full-bore towards it. We’re simply keeping it under wraps more because we want to make it the best possible game we can. I’m an FPS player first and foremost, so we’re going to get that game right, period.”
It’s been around ten months since Sony said anything about The Agency, so surely SOE can forgive fans for speculating as to the game’s status and existence. Still, it was looking like a very unique project, so it’s good to know that the game is still on track, right?
