TGS: Team Ninja working on Ni-Oh

Remember Ni-Oh? Think back. No, further than that. Further than that, even. Ring any bells? In case you’re still foggy, Ni-Oh is a Japanese samurai action game first announced by Koei way back in 2006. Ever since that first Tokyo Game Show appearance, the game’s done nothing, only briefly resurfacing in a 2009 Famitsu issue.

Now Tecmo Koei’s vaporware suspect has returned, revealed to be a Team Ninja collaboration. No release date has been given, and it’s still not know if it’ll remain a PS3 exclusive, but the project is alive.

Originally a multimedia production that would have included a film, Ni-Oh has been something of a limp horse for a while. Hopefully the long and quiet development has paid off, but I guess we’ll just have to see.
