TGS 2017 dated, still growing year after year

Even the business days had more attendees this year

Lest you think trade shows are becoming less relevant, TGS officials have provided attendance numbers this year, and they’re very promising.

In addition to growing year after year during each day of the show (there’s two business/press days and two public days), TGS 2017 has been confirmed for September 21-24. It’ll be at the same location (and one that a lot of other conventions are held) — Makuhari Messe in Chiba. 271,224 total people attended TGS this year. For reference, E3 officials reported that 50,300 people attended 2016’s June show across three days — that’s roughly a 3.5% decrease for E3 from 2015, which, granted, has different criteria for attendance and one less day.

Even with the creeping influence of mobile games there’s still a massive handheld and console presence at TGS, so it’ll be around for a long while — it might even outlast E3. Having been there, Makuhari Messe is also the perfect location and a massive venue that can accommodate the rising crowds.
