If given the option of only being able to charge my iPhone from the computer or the wall, I would always choose the wall. But the great thing about the iPhone is that both options are on the table. The same can’t be said for Sony’s wireless controllers, which require some sort of USB contact with a machine turned on. Thankfully, the problem of having to leave your PS3 on for the sake of charging is about to end … in Japan. Sony has announced a wall charger for PS3 wireless controllers.

According to Engadget, the charger will be ready in mid-December for approximately $30. Sony hasn’t given any indication on western release as of yet.

I can’t say that I’m not disappointed, but I’m fairly certain that this item will hop across the pond at some point. I’ve always been mildly fearful that I’m in danger of burning down my house whenever I walk out with two controllers plugged in to my PS3. Anyone else think this is a good idea?
