Terraria: Otherworld is coming along

Now releasing in 2016

Re-Logic is keeping itself plenty busy with work on Terraria (content updates, mobile/console fixes, launching next year’s Wii U version) and its new spin-off game, Terraria: Otherworld, which has shades of tower defense. It’s being designed as “a sandbox with a purpose.”

I hadn’t realized it, but Otherworld was originally going to release in 2015. That’s, uh, not happening. “Simply put, the game is not ready yet — as we laid out in the beginning, we will only launch a game when we feel it meets our standards as a finished product,” said Re-Logic’s Loki. “Terraria: Otherworld hasn’t reached that point yet, though very strong progress has been made.”

But forget about that for a second, and look at this. Grappling hooks!

For as nice as Otherworld has looked in these initial trailers, I’m not so sure I can do the whole Terraria thing again, even if it’s framed differently. Well, maybe a few hours couldn’t hurt.
