Dragon Age: Origins is an RPG-ass RPG. As such, the first ten minutes of the game aren’t packed with playable action; rather, developer Bioware orients the player with the game’s universe and its biggest problem: a new blight. The vicious Dark Spawn are invading Fereldan again, threatening to bring humanity to its knees. As with the last blight, the Grey Wardens are prepared to kill the aggressors and unite the peoples of the continent.

But there’s another problem: there aren’t many Gray Wardens left.

After the introductory cut-scene, the player is allowed to make a character. I decided to just go with a preset for a Human Noble. His specific origin story begins with some dialogue between he, his father and two very special guests. I decided to be a jerk during the entire scene, which, as you’ll see, I’m pretty good at doing.

Check out the TMT and don’t be shy — tell us what you think about the footage and the game.
