We’ve heard little about Telltale’s M-rated episodic Batman series since its vague announcement late last year, but the studio was willing to share a few details this week at South by Southwest. Notably, the first episode is scheduled to release this summer. That’s a draft of the script right there.

Telltale says the story is most concerned with its leading character’s duality and how his actions as Bruce Wayne and Batman affect one another, so it won’t be “an examination of the extended ‘Bat-family,’ (Robin, Nightwing, etc.).” In certain scenarios, players can decide to play with or without the costume. Both sides have “consequences.” (Alfred will remember that.)

There aren’t any screenshots yet, but the creators describe Batman‘s art direction as “a non-photorealistic interpretation of the universe.” Speaking of, this game is set in modern times and “not tied to any existing iteration of Batman in games, film, or comics.” I like that.

I’m also glad to hear the Tales from the Borderlands team is working on this.
