Telltale readying a game based on The Walking Dead?

If the puzzle pieces fit together as nicely as I want them to, Telltale Games may be readying a title based on the popular comic book (and now television) series The Walking Dead.

In mid-February, Telltale is set to hold an event where it will announce five (yikes!) new multi-platform titles, including “some surprise mobile announcements.” One of the titles, the invite says, is “based on a just-launched property from the TV and comic book world whose popularity is changing life as some know it.”

While we received the invite, 1UP jumped to the conclusion that it would be a game based on The Walking Dead, adding “we have no actual evidence to support this theory.”

Wanting something bad enough can make it come true, right? Because the idea sounds absolutely delicious to me. While I would hate to see a game start mucking with the continuity of the comic (or even the “alternate universe” of the AMC series), I think there are a lot of stories that can be told within the world. Just make sure the series’ creator Robert Kirkman is on board and you’ll hear no complaints from me.
