Tekken 7 update ends Hell Sweep’s reign of terror

More changes incoming, says Harada

Bandai Namco has released a new update for its awesome fighting title Tekken 7. Version 3.31 is live now on all platforms and brings a small but impactful list of buffs and nerfs to a selection of the game’s 36-strong roster.

First and foremost, Kazuya and Devil Jin’s dreaded Hell Sweep maneuver has reverted to its original, pre-3.21 form. The fast combo starter remains one of the Tekken 7 community’s most argued-about moves, thanks to its speed, homing capabilities, and reward. It seems – for now at any rate – Team No-Hell Sweep has won the battle.

Elsewhere in the patch list, tournament mainstay Leroy has received several further nerfs, while Gigas and Katarina have been blessed with some improvements. Of note, Tekken producer Katsuhiro Harada has stated that this update represents only “25-30%” of the originally planned changes, before the coronavirus pandemic put a damper on patch development. As such, further tweaks are expected in the near future. In the meantime, you can check out Version 3.31’s patch notes right here.

Tekken 7 is available now on PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
