The reveal comes from fellow content creator Tommyinnit leaking the tribute before the premiere, along with images that are starting their rounds on social media and online, showing a lone pig with Technoblade’s famous crown walking around the village. Technoblade’s Minecraft skin was a royal pig with a crown, so the tribute is subtle and fitting.

It is unknown at this time when the tribute will play on screen and for how long, but surely eagle-eyed fans will be on the lookout not just for the Technoblade homage, but for any other easter eggs or references to Minecraft’s long history.

Spoilers ahead.

The content creator, who died July 2022 after a battle with stage four cancer, was one of Minecraft’s biggest stars and was one of the most beloved and cherished creators on the platform with over 10 million subscribers. Despite his diagnosis, Technoblade continued to create content and stream to his viewers, keeping his community updated as he received treatment.

His death came as a shock to both Minecraft players and content creators alike, who honored Technoblade as soon as his death was announced on June 30. A video with Techno’s father narrated a final, posthumous message titled “so long nerds,” written for such an occasion.

Shortly after his death, Mojang updated the Minecraft loading screen to have a pig with a similar crown appear for a few months in honor of Technoblade’s legacy and commitment to Minecraft.

Technoblade isn’t the only content creator reference in the movie either, with several content creators teasing that they have some form of cameo or appearance in the movie that appears to be a labor of love to Minecraft players and creators worldwide. Dantdm is one of many creators to announce they are in the film, asking fans to “see if you can spot us when you go see it.”

The Minecraft Movie launches worldwide on April 4 in cinemas, but players can also take part in a Minecraft Live Event that ties into the movie right now to unlock special rewards, as well as get exclusive codes and items from various promotions, including one with McDonald’s. So, there is a lot to sink your teeth into if you are a Minecraft fan this week and beyond.
