Techland’s Dead Island not dead, still a game not an island

Long after developer Techland revealed its open-ended zombie shooter, Dead Island, Ubisoft revealed Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood… also developed by Techland. Okay, so what happened? Is Dead Island… dead?

Don’t worry, Techland told G4TV — the game is alive and well and “doing great,” says Techland international brand manager Blazej Krakowiak (not be confused with Wolfenstein’s B.J. Blazkowicz).

“Unfortunately our agreement with the game’s worldwide publisher imposed a media silence on us,” he explains.

The game’s publisher is currently unknown, which isn’t much of a change since when Techland showed off the game back in 2007. Yeah, that’s a “seven.” As far as when we’ll hear more about the game, Krakowiak says that’s up to the game’s mysterious publisher; the information will come directly from them when the time is right.

“We’re really excited with what we’ll be able to share with fans, but for the moment our hands are tied,” he says.
