Taito’s Crime Connection wants your phone’s contact info

I’d rather pay to play than agree to these terms

Crime Connection, the latest iOS and Android title from Square Enix subsidiary Taito, is a free-to-play “social crime simulation” in the style of Mafia Wars. There is a serious caveat to the game, however, and I’m not talking about microtransactions or its use of the GREE app platform. In order to play the game, you have to agree to share your phone’s contact information.

By agreeing, you allow Square Enix to access your contacts, voice mail, call history, and email. For what purpose, it isn’t clear. Taking that risk of putting your private information out in the public isn’t worth a free game, if you ask me. What do you guys think? Do you take the time to read agreements?

No Square Enix, I won’t let you snoop through my phone book [gamertell]
