Super Stardust Ultra will be wild in first-person VR

Hustle Kings is also supporting PlayStation VR

Hearing that Housemarque’s twin-stick shooter Super Stardust Ultra would be getting PlayStation VR support, I figured, “Oh, cool, you’ll get to look at the spherical levels like they’re right there floating in front of you. Sort of like how board games translate to VR.” That’s only half true.

While you will be able to play the full game “enhanced for PlayStation VR,” there’s also an all-new mode, Invasion Zone, with a first-person cockpit view where your targeting is synced to your head movement.

Another existing PlayStation Network title, Hustle Kings, is also going to get the VR treatment. I’ll spare you my lame attempts at talking about pool (I’ve held a cue twice before, honest!) and just note that you’ll be able to use either a standard DualShock 4 or two Move controllers to play.

In both cases, these VR experiences will be sold as separate games — Super Stardust VR and Hustle Kings VR, respectively — but owners of the original versions will have the option to upgrade. I’m sure we’ll be seeing much more of that library-building tactic after the headset launches in October.
