Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Inkling fighter detailed during post conference stream

Nintendo’s E3 stream keeps going

Today during the after-conference “whatever goes” stream, Nintendo broke down the new Inkling fighter that’s coming to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Along with eight different costumes and gender options, the Inkling can use the splattershot to cover enemies in ink, which increases your damage output on that particular foe. Your inktank meter on your back is actually accurate (and shows up near your life percentage now), and you’ll need to recharge your ink with shield+B — without ink you’ll do less damage.

The roller is in, and it actually buries enemies and opens them up for combos (which is some sick 1v1 potential) — it also creates a slowing ink pool on the ground. Their up+B is a rocket jump of sorts as a squid, which does damage when leaping up in the air and when it lands (!). The Splatbomb is a grenade that can be lobbed instantly or charged for distance. Forward smash is the Inkbrush, downsmash is the Slosher, and up smash is the Blaster.

I’m sure we’ll see plenty of action when the pros hit the sticks, but for now the Inkling seems incredibly viable on the competitive spectrum (and is getting its own new Smash amiibo).
