Super Metroid is on the Wii U Virtual Console for $0.30

Discounted from May 15th through June 14th

If you have a Wii U, run, don’t walk to your GamePad and pick up Super Metroid on the eShop for $0.30 — it should be live later today, unless Nintendo delayed it until the eShop update tomorrow. A timeless classic, Super Metroid helped cement the franchise as one of the true platforming and exploration greats, and is one of my all time favorite games.

The discount is a result of the Virtual Console anniversary sale, and will feature Yoshi (NES) next, then it will close out with Donkey Kong (NES). If you already picked it up at Club Nintendo recently, your coins have been refunded. European owners, you’ll be getting an “optimized 50hz” version of the game rather than the 60hz version.

While you’re waiting for the game to download, you can rock out to this amazing Super Metroid medley by Jake Kaufman.
