“Why did I do this on a Tuesday? I just woke up and decided I would do this.”

That’s what Siglemic said right before he beat the Super Mario 64 speedrun record, claiming all 120 stars and finishing the game in just one hour and 43 minutes.

Even if you don’t plan to watch the full stream replay, watching Siglemic in action is impressive. His jumps are so perfectly timed that it doesn’t even seem possible at times. Passing through star doors and crazy bomb throws are tricks I would have never imagined using. The elevator thing — wowzers (see 33:00 minute mark). It’s like art!

His FAQ goes into why he is playing a Nintendo 64 specifically, and not on Virtual Console or an emulator. Apparently, only 66 percent of the control stick is available on the virtual version, with the rest being dead zone.
