An official fan game and it’s going to be free!
Yes, I know what you’re thinking. What weird dimension have we suddenly fallen into? But it’s true! There’s going to be a new Mega Man 8-bit style game and it’s going to see the Blue Bomber fighting the Street Fighter world warriors!
Street Fighter X Mega Man was just announced at the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Tournament Grand Final taking place right now here in Burlingame, California. The fan game sees classic Mega Man gameplay where the Robot Masters are replaced with Street Fighter characters. They’ll be using their iconic fighting moves and you’ll be able to equip their powers to Mega Man after defeating them in boss battles.
Capcom has given their official blessings on the project and best of all, the game will be available for free on December 17 for the PC through Capcom-Unity.com! Additionally, the original music was created by A_Rival.
I’ll be speaking to the creator of the game as well as Capcom later today about the project, and getting some hands-on time with the game too. If you have any questions drop them in the comments below. In the meantime, here’s the trailer and screens, plus you can see some levels of what the game was looking like way back in 2010 on this YouTube channel.
