The competition for this year’s Independent Games Festival is as fierce as ever. One entrant, Marvin’s Mittens, caught my eye. In part because the developers reached out to me (tee-hee!), but also because I dig platformers quite a bit — especially ones that draw inspiration from Knytt.

Their intent is to release this as an Xbox LIVE Indie Game this winter with a possible simultaneous release on PC, or one “shortly thereafter.” Breakfall’s Mike Keogh says that “atmosphere and sense of exploring the world” are the two big takeaways for Marvin’s Mittens.

Those are the magic words right there.
