Steam currency issue made Indonesians rich

What do you do with 13,000x in your wallet?

What would you do if you woke up this morning to find your Steam wallet was suddenly worth 13,000 times it’s normal value? This may seem like a silly question, but Steam users in Indonesia found themselves in this very situation over the weekend.

Due to a glitch on the Steam Store, the exchange rate between United States Dollars and Indonesian Rupiah was drastically altered. Rather than the standard rate of around $1 to 13,000 Rupiah, exchange rates were set so that $1 was equal to 1 rupiah. If buying items in USD, Indonesians were suddenly rich.

Most of the transactions that resulted from this were players purchasing marketplace items from American users on the cheap. These items have been returned to sellers, buyers will soon be refunded and everything is slowly returning to normal.

Still, what I would not give got 13,000 times more Steam credit value.
