Starfield to introduce ‘new ways of traveling’ in future patch: let the speculation begin

My money's on space hoppers.

At the time of writing, Starfield has a mixed review score on Steam. Look, it’s not a bad game. It’s just not the dynamic-shifting epic Bethesda hoped it would be. But still, the studio is keeping that spaceship flying with some new features coming in the future.

Expect updates for Starfield every six weeks

In a recent post on Reddit, a spokesperson for the developer has said the team is grateful for all the feedback they’ve received. As well as working on some of the ongoing issues with Starfield, there are currently plans to add mod support (finally), city maps, and “new ways of traveling.”

What that last one means specifically is anyone’s guess, but the post asks everyone to “stay tuned!” These features will be “rolling out with a regular cadence of fixes and updates we expect to have roughly every six weeks.” In that respect, 2024 could be an interesting year for the game.

A slow burner

From one of the most hyped games of this generation to something that’s been largely forgotten, Starfield seems to be burning up on re-entry (I promise, no more space puns). While the game attracted over 12 million players, it’s been tough trying to keep up that pace.

As we approach the beginning of a new year, we could see things change for Todd Howard’s cherished project. The PC modding community is no doubt keeping things interesting, but it’s going to take some effort to drive up a lot of new interest in Starfield after that burst of hype.

In short: I don’t think we’ll be seeing a Cyberpunk 2077-esque redemption any time soon.
