Stardew Valley player is divorcing Penny over a disastrously expensive bedroom makeover

Don't put all your Kegs in one room, especially not in the Farmhouse

Stardew Valley players are no strangers to the concept of relationships and marriage to the many villager NPCs. Once you marry a villager, they move into your Farmhouse and begin to have an effect on their surroundings. But what happens when their presence causes the destruction of over 200,000 Gold worth of produce?

Well, Eastern-Purple-9534 over on Reddit has given a first-person account of what may just be the most expensive interior design choice in the game’s history.

Having married Penny and moved her into the Farmhouse, this player then allowed Penny to redecorate their bedroom. Usually, this wouldn’t be a problem, but Eastern had a total of 68 Kegs in their bedroom containing a bumper stock of Starfruit Wine which was only a single day away from completion. I’m sure you can see where this is going.

For those not in the know, Starfruit Wine is the most valuable type of wine that you can produce using the Keg, with a base selling price of 2,250 Gold. So it’s understandable that Eastern would be a little upset at what Penny did.

Penny, for some inexplicable reason, decided that these Kegs didn’t quite go with her envisioned aesthetic, and rather than leaving them to finish the wine-making process, she stored them. If you store a Keg before it’s finished the process, the wine disappears and this leaves Eastern down approximately 200,000 Gold.

So why would Penny do this? Well, many in the comments were quick to point out that due to Penny’s experience having Pam as her mother, she now can’t stand alcohol. It’s a long-standing theory within the community that Pam is an alcoholic, due to her loved gifts containing a number of alcohol-based products.

On top of this, it’s revealed in Eastern’s post that they shared a child with Penny and this caused some in the comments to state that CPS would be all over them, questioning their choice to brew exotic fruit wine inside a bedroom which is easily accessible by said child.

If you were to look for a silver lining in this debacle, you could say that this mishap has served to prove that keeping produce inside the Farmhouse is a terrible idea, particularly considering the fact that Robin can build multiple sheds that are perfectly designed to contain items such as Kegs, Dehydrators, and Smokers

Needless to say, Eastern is very upset about this blunder and has stated their intention to divorce Penny and seek custody of their child.
