It’s almost time. Star Trek Online debuts its next free content update, titled Season 8: The Sphere on Tuesday, November 12th, and Cryptic are tickling Trekkies nacelles’ with a new trailer, courtesy of Massively.com. The update contains several new zones set inside a big ol’ Dyson Sphere, where players will fight dinosaurs with lasers on their heads and fly Death Star trench runs against ships that make a Borg Cube look like a sugar cube. Also included are a fully remastered tutorial section for Federation players, which is good, because the old tutorial was kind of dumpy compared to content introduced later on.

If you’re itching to experience some spherical goodness right now, though, you can log into the game and play “Sphere of Influence”, a prologue mission that sets up the season, and features Worf, voiced by Michael Dorn himself. Playing the mission before December 5th will reward players with the Obelisk Carrier, a huge new ship, as well.
