SSX slides to February 14 launch, reveals Deadly Descents

EA recently released a “Survive It” trailer for its upcoming SSX game. The new video ends with the news that the title’s launch has been pushed back slightly — it was originally set to release in January 2012, but will now launch on February 14, 2012. It’s going to be a Valentine’s Day for lovers… of reboots, that is: Sony’s new Twisted Metal title is also coming out that day.

The “Survive It” trailer above focuses on the game’s nine “Deadly Descents,” and they look pretty gnarly. You’ll have to contend with:

  • an avalanche
  • thin air
  • jagged rocks
  • a thick forest
  • a pitch-black night
  • ice
  • gravity (well, I suppose all snowboarders are hindered by that)
  • a hypothermia-inducing chill
  • white-out conditions

I must say, I was apprehensive of the “Deadly Descents” subtitle back when EA announced the game at last year’s VGAs, but this trailer makes these sequences look pretty damn cool. What do you guys think?
