Square Enix’s Murdered: Soul Suspect has my attention

Watch the intriguing new trailer

We knew that Murdered: Soul Suspect would be about a detective solving his own murder, which was enough of a hook to get the PlayStation 3, PC, and Xbox 360 title from Square Enix on my radar. This trailer is much more up front about the game’s direction, and I like what I’m seeing.

Deceased protagonist Ronan O’Connor will need to find clues and influence the living while stuck in limbo. Offering a hint of what Soul Suspect‘s gameplay will entail, the press release says he’s “free to explore the town of Salem, Massachusetts” and “must interrogate the ghosts of Salem’s past citizens to piece together the puzzle, while battling demonic spirits to save his soul and uncover the shocking truth about who is responsible for his death.”

I’m always down to take on the role of a ghost detective. More will be revealed at E3 next week ahead of Soul Suspect‘s targeted early 2014 release.
