Trick or Treat?

According to Japanese twitter, Nintendo is all set to launch a Halloween event in their online multiplayer shooter Splatoon 2 later this month. Splatoween will bring fun and spooky new content to the Switch release, as well as a rare 48-hour splatfest.

Running from October 19 to October 21, Squid Kids and Octolings will be able to bag fun new gear such as monster masks, hats and Jason Voorhees-style hockey masks. Even Off the Hook are getting in on the action, as Marina dons angelic all-white garb while Pearl digs out her best ’90s private club ensemble.

Speaking of P&M, the girls will be hosting a 48-hour splatfest (currently only noted for Japan, but likely to go global) which seems to be asking the age-old question: Trick or Treat? Of course, Pearl is backing Trick whilst her Octopus pal is running with Treat.

Finally, Inkopolis square and select battle arenas will receive a Halloween makeover, with creepy night-skies and ghost graffiti aplenty. You can check out a selection of images in the gallery below, and we will keep you updated as more news becomes available.

Splatoween takes place in Splatoon 2 October 19 until October 21. Umm, so not actually on Halloween… Ehh, it’s a party, it doesn’t have to make sense.
