Sorkin not voicing Harley Quinn in Batman: Arkham City

A European Community Manager for Rocksteady Studios has revealed the voice actress who will be performing the role of Harley Quinn in the upcoming Batman: Arkham City and, surprisingly, it’s not Arleen Sorkin. Sorkin, a partial inspiration for the character who has voiced it in numerous television series, features and games, had portrayed The Joker’s ditzy sidekick in Rocksteady’s prior title, Batman: Arkham Asylum.

The role has instead been given to Tara Strong, whose experience in the Batverse prior to this has been playing Batgirl in a number of television series and the 2003 Batman: Rise of Sin Tzu videogame. Other notable credits for Strong include the voice of Seth Balmore in Lost Odyssey and Rachel in Ninja Gaiden: Sigma.

This is likely to disappoint a lot of fans. Honestly, I can’t imagine anybody else performing the role but it isn’t as if Strong’s skills are in doubt. But it’s like hearing somebody other than Mark Hamill do the Joker. Occasionally it’s decent but it’s never quite right, is it?
