Sony trademarks ‘Playview,’ registers ‘Step you game up’

First, let’s start with “Step your game up.” I’ve never been a fan of slogans that tell you to do something. It sounds so bossy. This tagline comes from the PSP version of Kevin Butler, a 12-year-old PSP fanboy named Marcus Rivers.

More interesting than the bossy tagline is the trademark application for “Playview.” This was registered for more than just videogame software. The filing says that it can be used for retail services with respect to games, proving information about them. Siliconera guesses that this could be a component of the rumored improved PlayStation Network service we keep hearing about. Maybe it could be an online game demoing service.

It seems that Playview can also be used for receiving and reading text, like an e-book. What could they be doing with that? Online manuals? an E-book store?

Maybe this is something we’ll hear about next week at E3. Stay tuned.
