Sony to manufacture PlayStation 3 systems in Brazil

The Last of Us and Grand Theft Auto V will be localized as well

Good news to all you folks in Brazil as Sony intends to serve you better. The company will now be manufacturing systems in the country in an effort to drive down the cost of the system, and better support fans in South America.

PlayStation 3s with a 250GB hard drives will now run $1,099 Reais, which is roughly around $550 US dollars. There will also be a bundle coming out that will include God of War: Ascension for the same price.

As for other games, Sony promised localized versions of The Last of Us, and Grand Theft Auto V. This will be the first time a GTA game has been localized with text into Brazilian Portuguese too.

Sony’s investment in the Brazil game market is part of a long-term commitment according to Andrew House, President and group CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment. Their efforts are “expected to infuse the Brazilian economy with approximately $300 million over the next 12 months.”
