Sony to drop PlayStation Vita price to $200

Significant reductions in memory card prices as well

We’ve seen various retailers drop both the Wi-Fi and 3G/Wi-Fi PlayStation Vita models down to $200 recently. It’s time, Sony. We’re ready for you to introduce that coveted price drop across the board. And Sony is ready as well: a price drop down to $199.99 / €199.99 is happening in the United States and Europe, respectively, as of tomorrow.

Perhaps even more exciting than that, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe CEO Jim Ryan promised “significant reductions” in the prices of memory cards for the system. It’s about time! The prices are now 4GB ($14.99), 8GB ($19.99), 16GB ($39.99), and 32GB ($79.99).

Thanks to Sony’s indie push, the portable is getting quite a lot of quality games, even if many of them aren’t exclusive. Whatever. It’s still a well-made device, one that many of us desperately want to succeed. Let’s hope the new pricing is a big step forward.
