Sony takes off the gloves and says it’s on … but not today. Later. Maybe.

Mommy, Sony is talking again!

Another day, another round of promises from the house of PlayStation. This time, it’s SCEA VP of product marketing Scott Steinberg talking about the PS3’s future, because there’s so very little to talk about in the present. In a Keynote, Steinberg reveals that Sony will spend this Christmas promoting the PS3’s Blu-ray disc drive, its first party titles, the PlayStation Network and its community features …

So basically, Sony is going to do exactly what it did all of last year and all of this year. Again.

“In the next few years, you’re going to start to see us separate from the herd. Some of the other platforms are going to look very dated because their life spans are so much shorter than ours,” states Steinberg.  “If you’re a competitor I’ve got bad news for you because we’ve got some absolute blockbusters that are in the works, some of them new IP, some of them existing IP, that we’re building specifically for the PS3.”

He then goes on to suggest how tough the competition is going to have it on this fantastical day when Sony pulls its finger out and delivers more than words. You better be sh*tting yourself son, because one day Sony might actually stop talking and do something.

Until that day though, it’s just promise after promise after promise.
