There’s a class action lawsuit that has been filed against Sony and Square Enix over Final Fantasy XIII. There are some that say that the latest in the RPG series has caused “severe and widespread damage” to numerous PS3 consoles since release.

From the filing:

Both defendants are eminently aware of the damage being caused by their defective products, and have chosen to do nothing about it… In response to voluminous consumer complaints, defendants have taken to blaming the problem on each other.

I heard a bit about this right after release, but it seemed to go away. This seems like just one pissed off guy who says that the “internet is awash with consumer complaints arising from the use of Final Fantasy XIII video game discs on PS3 game consoles.” The suit is seeking more than $5 million in damages.

I played both the Japanese and English versions fully, and had no issue with my launch day 60GB PS3. No one on our staff had problems either.

A commenter on Edge sums it up nicely: “Are they sure that FFXIII didn’t just freeze their minds?”
