Sony shows off Unreal Engine 4 during the PS4 event

PlayStation Event, New York, 02/20/13

Sony showed off the Unreal Engine 4 running in “real time” on prototype hardware today at the PlayStation 4 event. Using GPU accelerated systems, Sony was able to show off a demo running on the GPU, not the CPU.

Sony lead architect Mark Cerny stated that the PS4 will feature “easy conversion path from the PC world,” with 8 CPU cores, 2 teraflops computational performance streamlined access to common network GDDR 5 memory.

Easy conversion from the PC you say? I sense a lot of apprehensive developers being set at ease right now.
