Sony says no holiday price cuts coming

Thinking maybe it’s time for you to finally give in and buy a PS3, if only they’d reduce the price just a little bit more? This isn’t going to be your year, if Patrick Seybold, director of corporate communications at SCEA, is to be believed (I have a feeling he’s likely pretty reliable when it comes to such things.) In a recent interview with Edge, Seybold commented that there are no plans for any price cuts this Holiday season.

“In my opinion,” he added, “we have the best line up of any PlayStation generation going into this holiday and consumers will be very receptive to it.”

I do think that Sony has a major hit on their hands with LittleBigPlanet, as the beta has been one of the most delightful gaming experiences I’ve had all year. PS3 was catching up to the Xbox 360 in sales, but now that they have slashed the price of their console, the gap could possibly widen again.

Seybold also mentioned Resistance 2, SOCOM and MotorStorm: Pacific Rift as being among their games that they feel will draw people to purchase the PS3. Are any of these titles (LittleBigPlanet included) system sellers for you?
