Sony has released its latest financial report, revealing that its mighty black box, PlayStation 4, has shipped a staggering total of 86.1 million consoles since its launch back in 2013.

Although numbers were down year-on-year with previous reports, the PS4, which is a solid five years old, still managed to shift 3.9 million units during the three-month period that ended September 30. The console may be considered entering its twilight phase, but it’s clearly still bringing in the bucks. Sony clearly thinks so, as they project a further 17.5 million units to ship between now and March 2019, which obviously includes the lucrative Holiday season.

On the software front, games passed 75 million sales mark, including full games and DLC sales, with 28% of these sales being digital. PlayStation Plus subscriptions are also up, with a total of 34.3 million signups. Clearly, the PS4 remains a secure moneymaker for its manufacturer, despite murmurings that a successor is on the horizon.
