Sony confirms that their 60GB stock is fully depleted

It looks like Sony’s plan to move the remaining stock of 60GB PS3s at a $499 price point is working like a charm.

GamePro said yesterday that the SonyStyle online store’s supply of the 60GB model was listed as back ordered (though some have been shifted from retail stores to meet web demand), and now it looks like Sony’s warehouses are totally out of this model.

“We no longer have any inventory in SCEA warehouses. All inventory has been purchased and shipped to retailers,” Sony’s Dave Karraker said in an email.

“We don’t have visibility as to if that is on their store shelves or in their warehouses at this time. However, based on inventory reports from our retailers, there is ample supply still left in the channel.”

When Sony announced the price drop during this year’s E3, they said that supply of thie 60GB model would be available for several months, but if the SCEA warehouses are cleaned out, that only leaves what’s left at retail stores and warehouses. I never thought I’d say this, but you might want to hurry if you want a $499 PS3.
