Sony has responded to the PSN outage that happened over the holidays, and you’re probably getting something extra because of it. For starters, all PlayStation Plus members will have their membership extended by five days automatically in the near future. Additionally, “sometime this month” the company will provide you with a 10% off coupon for a total cart purchase for anything on PSN.

While this was mostly a result of an alleged distributed denial-of-service attack (stop calling it a “hack” guys), Sony’s system was down for days on end while Microsoft had their service back up and running in under 24 hours. Hopefully Sony will have better preventive measures whenever this happens again. Because you know it will happen.
