Sons of the Forest: All weapons and where to find them

Pew pew

It’s fair to say there are a lot of weapons available to add to your arsenal in Sons of the Forest, from crafted early-game stabbers to late-game guns that make easy work of the Cannibals and Mutants you’ll face. They’re not easy to find, though, as they’re hidden in various locations around the map.

If you’re hoping to go running blindly into danger in order to take down some Cannibal camps in Sons of the Forest, I’d strongly advise against it. By all means, if you have a penchant for masochism and don’t mind being tied up occasionally, give it a go, but if you want to survive and make it out in one piece, you’re going to need weapons and lots of them.

No matter where you’re going on the island, you’re going to be hunted and attacked, so you need to be able to defend yourself. With that in mind, here’s a rundown of where to get every Sons of the Forest weapon, plus what you need beforehand.

How to get every weapon in Sons of the Forest

Crafted Weapons

As soon as you’re dropped onto the island, you’ll be able to gather various useful items that can be used to craft the most basic weapons imaginable. However, while they may be basic, they’re better than nothing, and I’d strongly recommend them over trying to punch a Mutant to death.

Melee Weapons

If you enjoy close combat, you’ll want to get your hands on a good Melee weapon. These weapons allow you to defend yourself if the Mutants get a little too close for comfort, which, let’s face it, happens on an almost constant basis.

Ranged Weapons

The best tactic, most of the time, for dealing with any enemy in Sons of the Forest is to stand as far away as possible and deal your damage. If you can’t use a melee weapon against an enemy, they can’t hit you – it just makes sense.

Weapon Attachments can be added to a variety of Ranged Weapons in order to aid in navigation and aiming. In order to use most attachments, you’ll need the right Rail for your weapon.

If you want to cause a lot of damage while maintaining a distance, explosives are the way forward. Stand back, throw it in and watch the carnage before running in to pick off survivors.
