It’s been a pretty tumultuous week for video game icon Sonic the Hedgehog. After the trailer for his upcoming movie was regarded with the inevitable disdain people have foisted upon it ever since the first teaser poster, it was then announced that the Sega Mega Drive star would be getting a makeover for the finished flick.

Still, in much more positive news, Sonic’s creators have stepped forward to thank fans for their ongoing passion and support of the blue blur, taking twitter to make their feelings toward the fan community felt. Former Sonic Team lead Yuji Naka commented “The power of Sonic fans is amazing. It is good to go in a good direction. Thank you so much for loving Sonic”.

Character designer Naoto Ohshima sees movie Sonic in a more positive light than the internet, offering that “I loved all Sonics… Since everyone loves Sonic, various opinions come out. I want to thank everyone. It is my ideal to be Sonic everyone loves”. This was accompanied by a nice piece of impromptu art of movie Sonic, which you can check out below.

Sonic the Hedgehog hits theatres worldwide this November.
