Sonic 3, Gunstar Heroes and other Sega games hitting XBLA and PSN soon?

Once again, the ESRB has been shedding information on upcoming games, and it’s been revealed that a number of Sega Genesis games have been given the green light for release on Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network.

Sonic 3, Comix Zone, Phantasy Star II and Gunstar Heroes are all slated to appear on each console’s digital download service, which would make for a second series of releases after Sonic the Hedgehog, Sonic II, Golden Axe, Echo the Dolphine and Streets of Rage II made appearances last year.

The lack of “& Knuckles” at the end of Sonic 3 is a little disheartening, and with the release of Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection coming soon, one wonders just what the point is. Still, this is Sega, and nostalgia is its bread and butter.
