Those itching for a free-to-play MMO to drop onto PSN will have to scratch and steel themselves for a bit longer. If current plans hold, the PS3 version of Free Realms won’t launch until next year.
Replying to a question at GDC Austin earlier this afternoon, SOE president John Smedley pegged the MMO’s console arrival as mid-2010. “It’s next year sometime, toward the middle of the year,” he said after initially giving the questioner a tease of a response.
Think about it this way, prospective players: this wait gives you some time to prepare. You can start storing food in your closet and gathering empty jugs and buckets to do your business in if things on the plains get too hectic to leave the living room (or cave, wherever you plan on gaming). See? Huge waits aren’t always bad.
